High glycemic diet may raise female heart risk-study

In the process of cutting down saturated fatty acid, some people consume white bread, pasta and other refined carbohydrates     which causes blood sugar to spike up. Glycemic index is the measure of how quickly blood sugar jumps after eating a particular type of carbohydrate.
High glycemic foods are often are often lower in fiber and more highly refined and includes white bread, pasta made of white flour, doughnuts, ice cream and bananas. These have adverse effects on the heart health. High carbohydrate intake increases the levels of blood glucose and of harmful blood fats known as triglycerides. This in turn reduces reduces levels of protective HDL or “good” cholesterol, thus increasing heart disease risk.
By reducing saturated fatty acid and eating low glycemic index foods which are high in fiber and less refined such as whole grain wheat, vegetables like lentils, beans , (potatoes should be avoided), nuts and other carbohydrates which are less  refined  may improve heart health.
